Figures from Mexico's insurance regulator show that take-up of earthquake insurance contracts in Mexico fell by 9.4% in 2013, reports El Financiero.

The figures show that quake insurance premiums volume saw the biggest drop, followed by those for marine and transport insurance.

Insurance prices across the country vary depending on the location of the property to be covered.
