Fitch Ratings Inc. said Chile's property/casualty insurers are likely to absorb limited losses from the earthquake and tsunami that hit northern Chile on Apr. 1 2014, BNamericas reported.
Fitch said the event is unlikely to affect the country's insurance ratings and solvency, indicating the quake's minimal damage to infrastructure, commercial buildings, roads and houses. Moreover, the country's insurers seem to have sufficient reinsurance coverage, thereby reducing potential losses.
