India: Storms prompt $30m agricultural claim

Hail and unseasonal rains during February and March 2014 affected nearly 200,000 farmers, a report by the Nashik district administration showed.

Senior officials said the storms damaged crops on 103,225 hectares of land, The Times of India reported. The district administration has demanded 1.82 billion Indian rupees ($30.4 million) from the state government as compensation.
