India: Heavy downpour in Kashmir affects crop production, say experts

Incessant rains in the Kashmir valley have damaged 50% of Rabi crops, Director of Agriculture, Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmad said.

Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad said "most of the Kharif crops are under water," Rising Kashmir reported.

Vegetable sowing has been delayed because of the inclement weather conditions, he added.

Manzoor Ahmad, subject specialist of horticulture, said if rains continue "it can cause huge damage to flowers."
