Petrotrin faces $2.9 million clean-up bill for Trinidad oil spills

Petroleum Co. of Trinidad and Tobago Ltd. incurred losses of nearly $50 million Trinidadian ($7.7 million) because of the oil spill that affected the south-western peninsula in December 2013, the Energy Minister Kevin Ramnarine said.

Mr. Ramnarine said the overall estimated clean-up cost to date was TTD 19.3 million ($2.9 million), Trinidad & Tobago Express reported.

He added that TTD 9.9 million ($1.5 million) was paid out in compensation to affected parties for loss of income up to Feb. 26 2014.
