Singapore: General insurance industry's gross premiums up 4.5% in 2013

Singapore's general insurance sector recorded a 4.5% year-on-year increase in total gross premiums to $3.5 billion Singapore ($2.77 billion) in 2013, Channel News Asia reported.

Work injury compensation insurance registered a 10% rise in gross premiums to SGD 369 million ($292.2 million).

Underwriting profit for marine cargo insurance fell 21% to SGD 26.5 million ($20.9 million).
