New Zealand: Hepatitis A warning issued for apples, peaches

The Ministry of Primary Industries on New Zealand has warned that several apples and peaches sold in late February and early March 2014 could be infected with Hepatitis A, 3 News reported.

The ministry said the risk is "relatively low."

A packhouse worker in Hawke's Bay was diagnosed with the virus, the ministry said.

Scott Gallacher, the ministry's deputy director general, said some potentially infected fruits have been removed from sale but some may already have been consumed, 3 News reported.
