Japan: Nuclear power plant suppliers face class action lawsuit over Fukushima disaster

More than 4,000 people have filed a lawsuit against Toshiba Corp., General Electric Co. and Hitachi Ltd., which manufactured the reactors at Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant in Japan, lawyer Akihiro Shima said.

A lawsuit alleges that the companies "failed to implement safety improvements to the four-decades-old boiling water reactors," Agence France-Presse reported. Nuclear plant suppliers, under the Japanese law, are often exempt from damage claims in case of a mishap.
