AIG expects underwritten premiums in Brazil to rise 40%

American International Group Inc. expects to see underwritten premiums in Brazil jump 40% in 2014, a company executive said.

Jaime Calvo, AIG's chief executive in Brazil, said the insurer will inject about $120 million into the Brazilian unit to propel growth in property/casualty and high risk corporate insurance, Reuters reported.

"Our plan is one of accelerated growth" and "it includes acquisitions," Mr. Calvo said.
