BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

EEOC sets public hearing on social media and the workplace

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has scheduled a public hearing for March 12 on the use of social media in the workplace, the agency said Wednesday.

Panelists will discuss how the use of social media in the workplace is affecting enforcement on equal employment opportunity laws, the EEOC said in a statement. Issues to be raised by participants include recruitment and hiring, harassment and records retention and discovery.

In addition to EEOC officials, participants will include Renée M. Jackson, an associate with law firm Nixon Peabody L.L.P. in San Francisco, who represents employers; Jonathan A. Segal, a Philadelphia-based partner with law firm Duane Morris L.L.P., who will testify on behalf of the Alexandria, Va.-based Society for Human Resource Management; and Lynne Bernabei, a partner in law firm Bernabei & Wachtel P.L.L.C. in Washington, who represents whistle-blowers and employees.

The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. at agency headquarters, 131 M St. NE, Washington, D.C., 20507.
