India: 764 industries behind Ganga river pollution, says pollution control board

The Central Pollution Control Board has identified 764 industries responsible for pollution of the river Ganga, The Times of India reported.

A sugar industry and a dairy products' manufacturing unit are reportedly releasing untreated and toxic waste into the river.

The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board has ordered a halt in the operations of a distillery unit belonging to the sugar industry.
