Lithuania: Insurance premiums up nearly 9% in 2013

Premiums reported by insurers operating in Lithuania increased to 1.95 billion Lithuanian litas ($778 million) in 2013 from the year prior, Forinsurer reported.

Property insurance accounted for 68% of all premiums, increasing 8.7% to LTL 1.32 billion ($527 million). The number of policyholders increased 4% to around 5.25 million, with the number for the property insurance segment increasing 4% to around 5.2 million.
