Japan witnesses 12.8 billion cyber attacks in 2013

The National Institute of Information and Communications Technology said Japan witnessed at least 12.8 billion cyber-attacks in 2013, International Business Times reported.

The cyber-attackers mostly targeted government institutions and other state-run activities.

The attacks are said to have included phishing campaigns, distributed denial-of-service attacks and hacktivism.
