Australia: Damage from bushfires over past 90 years nears $6.12 billion

Bushfires have caused nearly $7 billion Australian ($6.12 billion) in damage over the past 90 years and $2.6 billion Australian ($2.27 billion) of this damage happened in the last 13 years, reports News Corp Australia.

In the first decade of the 21st century, more than 4,000 properties were damaged.

Temperatures soar in January and February, with 54% of the most damaging bushfires taking place during these months.
