BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Windstorm Dirk insured losses estimated at nearly $371M: Perils

Perils A.G. has given an initial estimate for insured property losses from Windstorm Dirk, which hit France and the United Kingdom in December, of €275 million ($370.9 million), the Zurich-based catastrophe loss data company said Monday.

The majority of losses from the storm, which affected France and the United Kingdom Dec. 23-25, occurred in Normandy in northern France and areas of southern England, Perils said in a statement.

Perils said its estimate was based on gross loss data reported by primary insurance companies, and that it excludes losses covered by government-backed pool arrangements.

The company said it would publish an updated estimate by March 23.
