North Korea: Yongbyon nuclear plant poses significant threat, say experts

Experts have said North Korea's decision to restart a reactor at the Yongbyon nuclear scientific research complex poses a significant threat and a disaster there could be potentially worse than the 1986 Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine, IHS Jane's reported.

One expert said the Yongbyon site "has a concentration of so many nuclear facilities" and a fire in one building could trigger a large nuclear disaster. Most analysts think North Korea may not be able to effectively control a fire or subsequent radiation, IHS Jane's reported.
