Cooper Gay Australia Pty. Ltd., a unit of Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford Ltd., has launched a wholesale division for the Australian insurance market.
The new division is set to serve as a key intermediary between independent insurance agents and insurers, the broker said Thursday in a statement.
Jonathan Hyde, who joined Cooper Gay Australia in July 2013 as head of production, will run the wholesale division and be responsible for developing the company's wholesale business and broker relationships, according to the statement.
“The CGSC Group, with 60 offices and 1,600 staff positioned around the globe, provides market-leading expertise and reach for insurance professionals, and we're delighted to be able to deploy that resource in Australia through our new wholesale division,” Jon Calverley, managing director of Cooper Gay Australia, said in the statement.
“I am excited to be delivering a global wholesale alternative to Australia in 2014,” Mr. Hyde said in the statement. “Our independence and global network will be very appealing to our local intermediaries, and I look forward to developing and extending Cooper Gay's excellent existing broker relationships.”
