Bangkok Shutdown expected to cost Thailand's economy $1.21 billion

Thailand's economy is expected to incur 40 billion Thai bahts ($1.21 billion) in losses because of the Bangkok Shutdown, the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce said.

Wachira Kuntaweethep, assistant director of the center, said most businesses expect their profits to take a hit, The Nation reported.

Companies are worried their production costs will increase and put pressure on their liquidity.
