BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

The North Carolina Department of Insurance has named Debbie Walker the state’s director of captive insurance.

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin made the announcement in a statement Monday.

Ms. Walker, a certified public accountant, has worked in financial regulation in North Carolina’s insurance department for more than 20 years and was named chief financial analyst in 2006. Before joining the department she held various accounting positions in the insurance industry.

As head of North Carolina’s Captive Insurance Section, Ms. Walker will be responsible for analyzing captive license applications and overseeing the ongoing regulation of captives licensed in North Carolina, according to the statement.

North Carolina enacted its captive law last year, and the state licensed its first four captives in December.
