People in Australia's Pilbara region face potential health risks from exposure to asbestos in buildings and building products damaged by Cyclone Christine, WAtoday reported.

Law firm Slater & Gordon Ltd. has already warned people of the asbestos exposure during clean-up of their damaged homes and other properties. A Slater & Gordon lawyer said that every year "around 250 Western Australians die from asbestos-related diseases, with a lag of about 30-40 years between exposure and diagnosis of an illness."
