U.K.: Energy firms face $6.6 million compensation bill for power cuts

Energy firms in the United Kingdom could be required to pay more than £4 million ($6.6 million) in compensation for the recent power cuts caused by extreme weather conditions, The Telegraph reported.

A spokesman for Southern Electric P.L.C. said the utility could pay out almost £1.5 million. A spokesman for UK Power Networks said it expects a bill of around £2.5 million.
