Chinese insurers boosted their capital in 2013 and recent figures indicate that around 32 insurers have so far increased capital by 49.5 billion Chinese yuan ($8.15 billion) during the year, Hexun.com reported.
An industry insider said the main reason for this trend is that such capital increases are the most direct way to improve solvency.
Another factor contributing to the trend is the establishment of branches and sub-branches, which require capital support.
