BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

N.J. county rolls out online wellness program for smaller employers

The Bridgewater, N.J.-based Somerset County Business Partnership has introduced a new online workplace wellness program designed to help small and midsize employers improve employee health.

Available at no cost to partnership members, the SCBP Workplace Wellness program is led by Donna Reed Zaleski, director of fund development at Carrier Clinic, and Mike Schatzki, founder of Negotiation Dynamics.

“Workplace wellness programs foster more productive employees and contribute to successful business growth,” Mr. Schatzki said in a statement announcing the launch of the program late last month. “The SCBP is now making it possible for smaller companies, regardless of their financial position and staff resources, to save money and reap the benefits of healthy employees for free.”

Businesses participating in the SCBP Workplace Wellness program will receive access to cloud-based software that complies with the privacy regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and encourages participation through incentive-based milestones. The technology is employee-driven, reducing the demand for human resources departments to implement the program, the partnership said in the statement. Using this software, employees can capture their personal health metrics, track improvements over time, organize their health histories and receive personalized recommendations from virtual coaches, according to the statement.

The software helps users understand their current “health age” and identify health risks before they have manifested into health conditions, Ms. Zaleski said in the statement.

“It then coaches them on ways to improve how they feel and overcome their health challenges so they can begin living healthier, happier lives. Taking preventive action also reduces health costs for employees and their employees, and can even save lives,” she said in the statement.

The SCBP will also connect participating employers with other free community resources that could be helpful in supporting the worksite wellness program's goals.

The Somerset County Business Partnership serves as the central New Jersey regional Chamber of Commerce.

The one-year Workplace Wellness Program will run from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2014. To learn more about the SCBP's Workplace Wellness Program, visit www.scbp.org or contact Takeena Deas, director of community affairs, at 732-218-4300.
