Taiwan: Semiconductor firm fined for water pollution, ordered to shut K7 factory

Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. was fined $600,000 Taiwan ($20,304) after one of its factories, known as K7, discharged toxic wastewater into the Houjin River, Taipei Times reported.

The company has been ordered to suspend operations at the factory. Greater Kaohsiung environmental officials said the factory was penalized three times in 2012 for the same violation.
