Techni Motors' four story warehouse containing tires and fuel in Lima caught fire, resulting in an extensive toxic cloud of black smoke covering most of the city, reports The Sun Daily citing Agence France-Presse.
Fire chief Mario Nunez said some walls inside the building collapsed. Arturo Alfaro, director of non-governmental group Viva, said "the smoke contains carbon dioxide... and elements that are carcinogenic, causing an immediate impact on health, particularly among people with respiratory problems."
