Pakistan: Goods transporters strike causes $300 million loss to value-added textile sector

A recent strike by goods transporters in Pakistan has resulted in a financial loss of around $300 million to the value-added textile sector, Business Recorder reported.

Exporters say small and mid-sized enterprises will feel the financial strain because of the delay in shipments. "After 10-days of exports halt, the shipment took at least 10 more days to start from ports for congestion at the harbors," Ijaz A. Khokhar, chief coordinator of Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association, said.
