India: Ports suffer $73 million in losses from Cyclone Phailin

Gopalpur and Paradip ports have sustained a loss of 4.46 billion Indian rupees ($73 million) because of Cyclone Phailin, which recently struck the Indian state of Odisha, Business Standard reported.

Gopalpur port is expected to have suffered losses of around INR 3.60 billion, Subrat Tarai, state minister of commerce and transport, said. Paradip port has suffered property damage of INR 827.1 million and indirect revenue loss of INR 35.9 million because of stoppage of operations.
