Ireland: Extreme weather events a blow to insurers

Stewart Gavin, product manager at FBD Insurance P.L.C., said insurers have been hit hard by extreme weather events over recent years, AgriLand reported.

Since 2009, severe weather events have cost €892 million ($1.21 billion), Mr. Gavin said citing data from the Irish Insurance Federation. He said "there is a huge exposure to farmers in the area of employer's liability insurance."
