BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Zurich Insurance enters academic cooperation pact for flood research

Reprints

Zurich Insurance Group Ltd. has entered into a multiyear academic cooperation arrangement with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Laxenburg, Austria, and the Risk Management and Decision Processes Center of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia to support Zurich’s flood resilience program.

Under the arrangement, Zurich and the institutions will work to identify and address gaps in research on flood resilience and community-based disaster risk reduction, demonstrate the benefits of pre-event risk mitigation over disaster relief after events and will work to improve public dialogue about disaster resilience.

In a statement, Zurich said floods affect more people around the world than any other type of disaster. The cooperation with Wharton and the IIASA will build upon the complementary strengths of the two institutions, the insurer said, and will allow a broader scope of interdisciplinary research.

The collaboration will bring together more than 15 researchers at the IIASA and Wharton, Zurich said.
