Eurekahedge Insurance-Linked Security Advisers Index reported positive performance in January, with the average return of ILS and reinsurance-linked investment funds reaching 0.68% compared with 0.16% in the previous year, reports Artemis.bm.
The performance was boosted by coupon yield, following typical seasonal patterns such as weakening of U.S. hurricane catastrophe bonds, strengthening on European windstorm cat bonds and flat non-seasonal peril cat bonds.
January 2013 witnessed lower primary cat bond issuance compared with January 2012.
