The Federation of European Risk Management Associations says it will announce a plan for European certification of risk managers next year at the FERMA Risk Management Forum beginning Sept. 29, 2013, in Maastricht, Netherlands.
FERMA indicated last year it was considering a certification project, and it now will have a working group discuss the concept with its 22 member associations and possibly educators and project managers as it prepares a certification plan in time for the next forum.
Rather than organizing its own education courses, FERMA’s role will be to confirm that risk managers have achieved a high level of professional competence and skill, providing a benchmark for risk management competence across Europe, FERMA said in a statement.
The organization said the presentation next year in Maastricht likely will propose two levels of European certification: confirmation of risk management competence for individuals newer to the profession, and full recognition of competence and experience for more senior risk managers.
FERMA brings together 22 national risk management associations from 20 European countries. The organization has approximately 4,500 individual members.
BRUSSELS—The Federation of European Risk Management Assns. is considering establishing a pan-European risk management professional certification.
