Dan Riordan was named CEO of the Zurich Insurance Co. Ltd.'s global corporate in North America business on Monday.
Mr. Riordan replaces Mike Kerner, who recently was appointed CEO of general insurance for Zurich.
Schaumburg, Ill.-based Zurich North America said Mr. Riordan will continue to be based in New York and accountable for the direction, management and performance of the GCiNA, which offers risk management services to corporate clients. Mr. Riordan will assume his new post on Oct. 1 and report to Thomas Huerlimann, CEO, global corporate.
“Dan brings a great depth of experience to his new role,” Mike Foley, Zurich's regional chairman, North America and CEO, North America Commercial, said in a statement. “Global corporate is a very important component of Zurich's business in North America, and we know that he will successfully lead its continued growth in the marketplace.”
Mr. Riordan joined the property/casualty insurer in 1997, and most recently held the role of president of Zurich's North America commercial specialty products business unit.
