BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Typhoon Guchol damage in Japan less than $500 million: EQECAT

NAGOYA, Japan—Typhoon Guchol caused less than $500 million in insured damage in Japan, according to catastrophe modeler EQECAT Inc.

The typhoon, which was the fourth named storm and first super typhoon of this year’s typhoon season, initially packed winds of 130 knots (150 mph), but weakened to a Category 1 typhoon with winds of 70 knots (81 mph) by the time it made landfall Tuesday in Japan’s Higashimuro District in the Wakayama prefecture.

Later in the day, it made a second landfall near Nagoya, passed northwest of Tokyo and finally exited into the Northern Pacific on Wednesday, Oakland, Calif.-based EQECAT said in a statement.

Heavy rains lead to evacuations in some parts of Japan and caused the cancellation of domestic and international flights. The typhoon also caused delays and cancellation of mass transit, such as high-speed trains, and led to road closings, according to EQECAT.
