BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

PRAGUE, Okla.—Harold Pumford, who joined the Assn. of Governmental Risk Pools in 2000 as the group's first CEO, has announced that he will retire next year.

Mr. Pumford notified the board of Prague, Okla.-based AGRiP on Tuesday that he intends retire sometime between June 1 and Aug. 1, 2012, depending on when a successor is in place to assume his duties.

Shawn Bubb, AGRiP's current president as well as director of insurance for the Montana Schools Group Insurance Authority, said the association's board will implement a previously developed CEO succession plan and could begin interviewing finalists in March.

In a statement, Mr. Bubb said Mr. Pumford, 66, had notified the board in 2007 that he was nearing retirement age and encouraged them to develop the succession plan.

At the time of his retirement, Mr. Pumford’s public-sector career will have spanned 44 years, including city management positions, posts with the Oklahoma Municipal League, more than 20 years as CEO of the Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group and his 12 years at AGRiP.

“It has been especially gratifying to have experienced the development and maturity of public entity risk and benefits pooling into what I often proclaim as the greatest success story in intergovernmental relations in the history of our country,” Mr. Pumford said in a statement announcing his retirement.
