PHOENIX—Andrew Oppenberg on Sunday was sworn in as president-elect of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management.
Michelle Hoppes, president of Chicago-based ASHRM, announced the election results in August after members voted and elected Mr. Oppenberg and other board members, according to a statement.
Mr. Oppenberg is director of risk management and patient safety officer for Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center in Glendale, Calif.
He focuses on clinical risk management and patient safety aspects of medical malpractice suits and claims, among others responsibilities.
Ms. Hoppes, senior vp and national director of health care risk management and patient safety for Sedgwick Claims Management Services Inc., in Grand Ledge, Mich., swore in the new officers at ASHRM’s annual conference and exhibition in Phoenix.
Mr. Oppenberg will serve as president in 2013, according to the statement.
