BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

WASHINGTON—The National Risk Retention Assn. has named Joseph E. Deems as its executive director.

Mr. Deems, founding principal of Deems Law Offices A.P.C. in Encino, Calif., has served as a spokesman for the NRRA and as chair of the association’s government affairs committee.

Mr. Deems, who also has served as general counsel to a captive insurance company, has contributed articles to various captive insurance industry publications and has been a frequent speaker at industry events.

“His long experience in litigation and transactional negotiations and his deep knowledge of the industry after leading NRRA's government affairs committee for years will give strong direction to our organization as we move forward,” Brian Braley, chairman of the Washington-based NRRA, said Wednesday in a statement.
