BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

House backs extending National Flood Insurance Program through Nov. 18

WASHINGTON—The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a stopgap funding measure that includes extending the National Flood Insurance Program through Nov. 18.

H.R. 2608 passed the House on a 352-66 vote. The Senate has already approved the stopgap funding bill that includes the NFIP.

President Obama is expected to sign the bill today, according to a House of Rep spokesman and insurance trade group lobbyist.

Insurer groups have expressed concern about the program's long-term prospects.

While the House has passed H.R. 1309, a measure that would extend the NFIP for five years, the full Senate has yet to act on its own version.

Lawmakers have extended the program piecemeal, allowing it to lapse several times in recent years, as the House and Senate could not agree on what the NFIP should and should not cover.
