NEW YORK—Transatlantic Holdings Inc. said it will report catastrophe losses of about $35 million for the second quarter of 2011, principally as a result of extensive tornado activity in the United States.

The New York-based reinsurer will release its second-quarter results July 27, it said Tuesday in a statement.

Transatlantic is set to merge with Zug, Switzerland-based Allied World Assurance Co. Holdings A.G. by the fourth quarter of this year.
