WORCESTER, Mass.—Delbert Betterley, former chairman of risk management consulting firm Betterley Risk Consultants Inc. in Worcester, Mass., died June 1 at age 90.

Mr. Betterley, a leader in the risk management profession, was a founding member of the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc.; the Institute of Risk Management Consultants, now the Society of Risk Management Consultants Inc.; and was the first risk management consultant to become a member of the Institute of Management Consultants USA.

In 1989, he retired as chairman of Betterley Risk Consultants, a firm he co-founded in 1946 that is now led by his son, Richard Betterley.

A memorial services was held in Worcester on June 6. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the YMCA of Central Massachusetts at 766 Main St., Worcester Mass., 01608. The phone number is 508-755-6101.
