LONDON—BMS Associates Ltd., the London-based holding company for insurance and reinsurance brokerage BMS Group Ltd., named a new CEO Friday.

Carl Beardmore, who succeeds John Spencer who resigned in January 2008, said he plans to double the firm’s brokerage business by 2015 and that BMS is in the process of recruiting new brokerage teams.

Based in London, Mr. Beardmore has been involved with BMS for eight years as a consultant and non-executive director, the reinsurance brokerage said in a statement.

Mr. Beardmore said BMS will grow through “organic growth, acquisitions to increase the breadth and depth of our production capabilities, the introduction of an underwriting platform, and an expansion of our MGA capability,” he said in the statement.

In addition, “we are also looking to acquire teams who focus on new risk classes or clients in different geographies. Discussions are underway with a number of teams,” he said, in the statement.

Mr. Beardmore’s appointment is subject to approval from the Financial Services Authority.
