SAN DIEGO—Speakers at the annual Disability Management Employer Coalition conference discussed improving workplace productivity by managing absences driven by disabilities, the Family and Medical Leave Act and workers compensation injuries, among other topics.

Employers also shared information on managing mental illness claims, integrating disability management and wellness programs, and the economy's effects on the U.S. workforce.

Titled “Taking Care of Business: Workforce Solutions in an Era of Change,” the Aug. 1-4 conference attracted more than 500 attendees to San Diego.

San Diego-based DMEC's next conference is scheduled for July 31-Aug. 3, 2011, in Dallas.
