SIMSBURY, Conn.—Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. has promoted Sharon Ritchey to executive vp of retirement plans.

Ms. Ritchey has been overseeing employer-sponsored retirement plans for the corporate, public and education markets that had $46.5 billion in assets under management as of March 31, Hartford said in a statement Tuesday.

Ms. Ritchey is based in Simsbury, Conn., and succeeds Jamie Ohl, who is chief operating officer of Wilshire Funds Management, a unit of investment consulting firm Wilshire Associates Inc., according to a separate statement.

Ms. Ritchie joined Hartford in 1999 and has held various senior management roles, most recently as executive vp and director of operations, technology and eBusiness for the Hartford, Conn.-based insurer's wealth management unit.

Both Ms. Ritchey and Ms. Ohl were honorees in Business Insurance's "Women to Watch" annual report in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
