To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

Bermuda insurance group names award winners

HAMILTON, Bermuda—The Bermuda Insurance Institute has named the three recipients of its 12th annual Insurance Industry Awards.

David Ezekiel, chairman of the Assn. of Bermuda International Cos., is the winner of the 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award. Previously, Mr. Ezekiel was founder and CEO of International Advisory Services Ltd., the largest independent manager of captive and third-party insurance companies in Bermuda, which recently was acquired by New York-based Marsh Inc. The award recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves in the industry during their careers.

Michael McGavick, CEO of XL Capital Ltd., has been named Insurance and Reinsurance Person of the Year, which recognizes an executive who has made a significant contribution to his or her own organization or the Bermuda insurance market as a whole. In a statement, the BII said Mr. McGavick was chosen for his outstanding leadership of XL during the most tumultuous time in the company's history.

Kirsten Faria, senior vp of healthcare lines at Allied World Assurance Co. Ltd., was named the 2009 Young Insurance and Reinsurance Person of the Year. Ms. Faria was recognized as a person under 35 who has made a significant contribution to the industry.

The Hamilton-based BII is a nonprofit educational institution that prepares Bermudians for the insurance industry.
