BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

National Flood Insurance Program to lapse

WASHINGTON—The Senate adjourned Friday without extending the National Flood Insurance Program, which is slated to expire Sunday.

Language that would have kept the program in place until April 30 was part of a more comprehensive bill that extended a variety of federal programs. Although the bill won House approval earlier this month, it stalled in the Senate, which is not expected to resume consideration of the measure until it reconvenes April 12.

Insurers expressed concern about the lapse of the NFIP.

“This is an important program that has unfortunately been allowed to expire because of political or legislative issues that have nothing to do with it,” said a spokesman for the National Assn. of Mutual Insurance Cos. in Washington.

“It’s going to have an impact,” he said.
