NEW YORK—Starr Indemnity & Liability Co. made several management appointments Wednesday, including two with ties to AIU Holdings Inc.

Jim Vendetti, who most recently served as senior vp for AIU, a subsidiary of American International Group Inc., has been named senior vp and chief underwriting officer of New York-based Starr Indemnity. He is responsible for building and managing all underwriting units, including property/casualty, environmental, crisis management and programs business.

Mr. Vendetti also previously served as executive vp and then president of AIG’s global energy casualty unit.

Alex Pittignano, who previously served as global leader for AIU’s crisis management unit as well as vp of the environmental liabilities unit for Rockhill Underwriting Management, has been named vp of the crisis management and environmental divisions of Starr Indemnity.

Also Wednesday, Ian Davey was named chief underwriting officer of the program division for Starr Indemnity. Most recently, he was senior vp for QBE Insurance Group Ltd.’s U.S. entities.
