CALGARY, CanadaBenfield Corporate Risk, the corporate risk arm of London-based corporate insurance and risk broker Benfield Group Ltd., has opened an office in Calgary, Canada.
Benfield Corporate Risk Canada will develop specialty business in the marine and energy, power and mining sectors.
The operation will be managed by Richard Cutfield, who joins the company from corporate insurance broker Jones Brown Inc., where he was managing partner responsible for financial institutions and income trusts accounts.
Benfield Corporate Risk Canada is incorporated locally and will be licensed in Alberta and other provinces in due course, a statement said.
Benfield Corporate Risk launched in September 2005 to focus on marine and energy and power business. The group also has plans to take on some corporate insurance and aviation/ aerospace business. It has offices in Hamilton, Bermuda; Houston; London; New York; Paris; Perth, Australia; Seoul, South Korea; Singapore; and Washington.
