Mike Miller has been named president and chief executive officer of Boston-based One-Beacon Insurance Group, replacing John Cavoores, who resigned for personal reasons. In April, Mr. Miller was named chief operating officer of the insurer, which is a unit of Bermuda's White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd.
New York-based Assurant Inc. has named

Robert B. Pollock president and COO and

P. Bruce Camacho executive vp and chief financial officer. Mr. Pollock previously had been executive vp and CFO of Assurant while Mr. Camacho had been president and CEO of Assurant Solutions.
Craig S. Lowenthal has joined New York-based Integro Ltd. as managing director and chief information officer. Mr. Lowenthal most recently was vp and CIO at Hartford Financial Products. Integro also has named

John Chippindale managing director and president of Toronto-based Integro Canada. Prior to joining Integro, Mr. Chippindale was CEO of global consumer and commercial business at Marsh Inc.
Carmel, Ind.-based Conseco Inc. has named

Michael J. Dubes president of Conseco Insurance Group. Before joining Conseco, Mr. Dubes was with ReliaStar Financial Corp., where, among other positions, he was president and CEO of Northern Life and the individual insurance group.
Dan DeCanniere, CFO of Lincolnshire, Ill.-based Hewitt Associates Inc. has announced he will resign. Mr. DeCanniere will remain in his position until a successor is named or the end of the year.
Pan-American Life Insurance Co. has named

Carlos F. Mickan executive vp and CFO. Previously, Mr. Mickan served as senior vp and CFO of Principal International Inc., the international division of Principal Financial Group.
Chicago-based Aon Corp. has appointed

Bill Pieroni global CIO. Mr. Pieroni joins Aon from IBM Corp., where he was head of the global insurance industry practice.
Fairfield, Ohio-based Ohio Casualty Insurance Co. has named

Ralph S. "Mike" Michael president and COO. Mr. Michael, who most recently was executive vp and manager of U.S. Bank's private asset management division, replaces former President Elizabeth Riczko, who resigned in May. The COO position is newly created.
Karl F. Snearer has been named president of Apex Insurance Agency Inc., Apex Insurance Services of Illinois Inc. and Summit Risk Services Inc. The companies are units of Hatboro, Pa.-based Penn Independent Corp. Since joining Apex in 1993 Mr. Snearer has served as senior vp and director of brokerage operations and chief operating officer.
AXIA Health Management has named

Patrick Yount CFO. Prior to joining Tempe, Ariz.-based AXIA, Mr. Yount was CFO for Biosensors International Group, a publicly held manufacturer of interventional cardiology products.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry has named

Mike Geeslin Texas insurance commissioner, replacing Jose Montemayor, who held the job for six years. Mr. Geeslin has served as deputy commissioner for policy at the Texas Department of Insurance since January 2003. Mr. Montemayor announced earlier this year that he was not interested in serving another term.
Former Montana Gov.

Marc Racicot has been named president of the Washington-based American Insurance Assn. Mr. Racicot, who was also chairman of the 2004 Bush-Cheney re-election campaign and previously chaired the Republican National Committee, most recently was a partner in the law firm of Bracewell & Giuliani L.L.P. Mr. Racicot will succeed

Robert E. Vagley as AIA president Aug. 1. Mr. Vagley, who served as AIA president since 1986, announced last year that he intended to step down.
Robert Gaffney is the new president of Boston-based Liberty Mutual Alternative Markets, formerly known as Liberty Mutual Captive Services. Previously, he was senior vp for ACE Ltd.
San Antonio-based Argonaut Group Inc. has appointed John F. Gribbin president of its risk management segment, replacing John Gantz, who left the company in May. Previously, Mr. Gribbin was chief underwriting officer for risk management.
Aon Consulting has named Larry Kurzner senior vp in its human resources outsourcing division in New York. Previously, he was a principal and national director for the human resources management line of business of Mellon Human Resources & Investor Solutions.
Kevin L. Blank has been named executive vp for sales, marketing and account management for Avon, Conn.-based Evolution Benefits Inc., a provider of benefits debit cards. Before joining Evolution Benefits, Mr. Blank was president and COO of BenefitPoint Inc.
Andrew Bloom has been named senior vp of operations for Corporate Synergies Group Inc., a Mount Laurel, N.J.-based employee benefits consultant. Previously, Mr. Bloom was vp and manager of benefits administration for Fleet Insurance Services L.L.C.
New York-based Harris, Rothenberg International L.L.C. has named Bernadette Fusaro director of work/life services. Before joining the work/life and employee assistance program benefit provider, Ms. Fusaro was a vp of global work/life strategies for Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc.
Mercer Human Resource Consulting has appointed Richard Wilson a health and benefits unit head in Glasgow, Scotland. Previously, he was head of customer service at Scottish Equitable.
New York-based Folksamerica Reinsurance Co. has promoted Brian Kensil to COO from senior vp of administration.
Elizabeth R. Haar is the new president and chief executive officer of Accident Fund Insurance Co. of America, a workers compensation subsidiary of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Michigan. Previously, she was executive vp and chief business development officer of the Lansing, Mich.-based company.
Gregory W. Fischer has joined Charleston, S.C.-based Thomas Cooper & Co. Inc., a subsidiary of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of South Carolina, as COO and executive vp. Previously, Mr. Fischer was assistant vp of operations and information systems for another Blue Cross & Blue Shield unit, Planned Administrators Inc.
Concentra Health Services Inc. in Addison, Texas, has appointed Archie Simons Jr. president of the company's Integrated Choice unit. Previously, he was president of Synchrony.
David P. Trezies is the new executive chairman of London-based UIB Holdings (UK) Ltd., succeeding Mounir Kabban, who has been named president. Previously, Mr. Trezies was chairman of Marsh Ltd.
Atlanta-based Beecher Carlson has named Mike LaRocca executive managing director in its Los Angeles office. Before joining Beecher Carlson, he was regional executive officer at Willis North America. Also at Beecher Carlson, Mike Blecher was named managing director of the company's Los Angeles office. Previously, he was a senior vp and partner at Lockton Cos.
American International Group Inc. has made two senior-level appointments. David L. Herzog, former chief financial officer for AIG's Worldwide Life Insurance, is now comptroller and senior vp. Robert A. Gender is now treasurer of AIG. He previously was assistant treasurer.
Boston-based OneBeacon Insurance Group has named Kevin Rehnberg senior vp. Previously, he was senior vp at St. Paul Travelers Cos.
New York-based Holborn Corp. has named Frank T. Harrison chief executive officer. He will remain president and director. Mr. Harrison succeeds John N. Gilbert, who will remain chairman and director of the brokerage.
New York-based Guy Carpenter & Co. Inc. appointed Michael Lazarus as senior vp of facultative operations in the Australian, New Zealand and Pacific region, a newly created position. Mr. Lazarus, who will be based in Sydney, Australia, previously was head of clients and markets for Aon Risk Services.
Willis Group Holdings has named Anthony Russo as senior vp and global chief information officer. Before joining Willis, he was senior vp and CIO for American International Underwriters, a unit of American International Group Inc.
Also at Willis, Jay Chappell has been named CEO of the Dallas office. Previously, he was a senior vp, practice leader-FINPRO south central zone, for Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc.
Aon Risk Services has promoted Michael Heffernan to managing director of the San Jose, Calif. office. Previously, he was co-national director of Aon's wrap-up group.
London-based Heath Lambert Group has appointed Michael Haynes managing director of its Hong Kong operations. Before joining Heath Lambert, he was managing director of Euler Hermes Credit Underwriters.
Also at Heath Lambert, Chris Wright has been appointed to head the sports and leisure practice. He previously was client services director of sports, leisure and entertainment at Marsh.
And Matthew Bates has been named sales and development director of Heath Lambert National. He will remain managing director of Heath Lambert Risk Management.
Assurant Solutions has been split into two businesses, Assurant Specialty Property and Assurant Solutions, the division now known as Consumer Protection Solutions.

  • S. Craig Lemasters is the new president and CEO of Assurant Solutions. Formerly, he was executive vp and chief marketing officer.

  • John B. Owen, formerly chief information officer, is the new president and CEO of Assurant Specialty Property.

Scott G. Meyer has joined Chicago-based brokerage Thilman Filippini as managing director. Previously, he was an executive vp and managing director with Aon Corp.
Benfield Inc. in Westport, Conn., has named Stuart M. Tilghman as senior vp, origination. He most recently was a senior vp in the property/casualty treaty division at Guy Carpenter & Co. Inc.
Marsh USA Inc. has made several promotions in its Pittsburgh office:

  • Linda George has been named mid-Atlantic FINPRO practice leader. She formerly was a department manager.

  • William Jasper, previously a client executive, is the new mid-Atlantic international practice leader.

  • David J. Witzgall has been named treasurer and vp of American Financial Group Inc. in Cincinnati. Previously, he was senior vp and chief financial officer for AFG-unit Great American Insurance Co.

Liberty International Underwriters in London has appointed Graeme Brydon European casualty manager. Before joining the company, he was a senior vp at Alea London Ltd.
ACE USA has named Alfred E. Bergbauer senior vp of ACE USA International Advantage. Before joining ACE, Mr. Bergbauer was south region international practice leader at Marsh USA Inc.
Hamilton, Bermuda-based ACE Tempest Reinsurance Ltd. has named Guy Swayne chief underwriting officer, international. He previously was executive vp of ACE Financial Solutions International.
CIGNA HealthCare has named G. David Shafer president of CIGNA Pharmacy Management in Bloomfield, Conn. Most recently, he was executive vp of national operations for AmeriChoice.
Dr. Robert Grossman is the new chief medical officer for Health Net of the Northeast Inc. Before joining Health Net, Dr. Grossman was medical director for HealthGuard of Lancaster in Lancaster, Pa.
Five former Marsh USA Inc. client advisors have been promoted to senior vp in the Pittsburgh office: Brian Andrews and Mary Beth Dougherty in property; Janet Egger in health care; Kimberly Hays in casualty; and Kelly Mazur in insurance services.
Hamilton, Bermuda-based ACE Tempest Reinsurance Ltd. has named Guy Swayne chief underwriting officer, international. He previously was executive vp of ACE Financial Solutions International.
Mound Cotton Wollan & Greengrass, a New York-based law firm concentrating on commercial insurance and reinsurance, has named Albert A. Skwiertz Jr. as special counsel. Previously, Mr. Skwiertz was managing director and counsel at Swiss Re Financial Services Business Group.
John Darden has been named chief financial officer of Specialty Risk Services in Hartford, Conn. Previously, he was senior vp and CFO of Acordia Inc.
New York-based Chadbourne & Parke L.L.P. has expanded its insurance and reinsurance practice with the addition of five new partners, all of whom previously were partners at Denton, Wilde Sapte. The five are: Adrian Mecz, Christopher Cardona, Michelle George, John Barlow and Mark Pring.
Michael J. Warfield is the new president of the Mattei Cos. L.L.C. Most recently, he was president of U.S. Risk Underwriters in Dallas.
