BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Canadian employers turning to flex plans: Survey

Reprints

More than half of Canadian employers currently offer or plan to offer flexible benefit plans in the next two years, according to a new Hewitt Associates survey.

In a survey of nearly 200 Canadian employers, Hewitt found that 52% currently offer or plan to offer flex plans in the next two years, while another 33% anticipate offering them in the future.

The most popular benefit options that companies offer through flex plans continue to be medical (83.5%) and dental benefits (85.6%). Eight-five percent of Canadian employers also provide health-spending accounts in which employees can receive tax-free reimbursement for health care expenses.

An increasing number of Canadian companies are offering flexible benefit options to retirees—36%, more than double the number of employers offering such options three years ago, according to the study.

Of those employers offering flex plans, 80.8% said the plans are meeting expectations in addressing employee needs, while 19.2% said the plans exceeded expectations.
