Reinsurers look to drop coal projects from treaty reinsurance

Major reinsurers are looking to exclude coal projects from their treaty reinsurance contracts after dropping bespoke reinsurance covers for coal from direct and facultative policies, Thomson Reuters Foundation reported. Although five of the world’s six largest reinsurers have dropped bespoke coverage for coal projects, Swiss Reinsurance Co. Ltd. is the only reinsurer currently working on limiting treaty reinsurance covers for coal.
