Allianz tightens coal-related insurance and investment policies

German insurer Allianz SE has further tightened its coal policy to limit its investments and property and casualty insurance coverage for companies with coal-based business activities, Asia Insurance Review reported. The insurer will stop covering mining firms that generate more than 25% revenue from coal mining from Jan. 1, 2023. Similarly, it will drop coverage for energy firms generating more than five gigawatts or 25% energy from coal annually.
